Complete guide on business formal (dress code)


First impression always keep in individual minds so remember you never get 2nd chance to make your first impressions. So to make impressive first impression to others one should concern about grooming, appearance, communication. And should be confident on self (but not over confident) and be attentive always.
Dressing have an influence on Personality, Colleague & Clients. Grooming means dressing fine, to be smart to others. It simply means dressing in a way that developments an image of the classy, successful working individual.

Grooming Standard for Men

1. Hair
• Hair above ears and around the neck should be tapered 
• Hair on back of neck should not touch

2. Mustaches
Should be trimmed. It should not grow more than the mouth corners Shaving daily is must.

3. Sideburns
Must not extend below the midpoint of the ear.

4. Clothes
Some common guidelines for your clothes are:
 Check the fittings of the clothes
 Clothes should be ironed
 Select anti-crease material
 Wear clean clothes
 Avoid T-shirts with words or pictures
 Refer to company’s dress code manual.

Shirts

Pastel Shades that can always go correct in the interview. It is important to button up shirt till the collar button.

5. Trousers

Should preferably be dark though may wear beige and with a dark colored shirt.

6. Ties

To play it safe choose a traditional silk tie, No loud colors or patterns. Given below are some well accepted colors and patterns. Your tie should co-ordinate with your attire. The knot should be a perfect triangle.




7. Socks

Choose a color that coordinates with your trousers (usually black, dark gray, dark brown, or dark blue) . Make sure they are long enough not to expose your skin when you sit down. As a thumb rule, do not wear white socks. Wear clean socks to avoid bad odour.



8.  Shoes
Wear a good pair of leather shoes- black and brown/tan shoes. Shoes must be polished everyday.

9.  Belts

Wear only formal belts with a sleek buckle. As thumb rule, match your belt to your shoes.





10. Watches

Preferably wear leather strapped watches. If you wear a metal strapped watch, make sure that it fits the wrist well.



Grooming Standard for Women


1. Hair 

Clean, neatly shaped, and arranged in an attractive feminine and professional style Conspicuous rubber bands, combs, and pins are not advisable.


2. Makeup

Makeup should be applied in good taste so that colors blend with natural skin tone and enhance natural features.Lipstick colors shall be conservative and complement the individual Long, false eyelashes shall not be worn when in uniform.

3. Jewellery

While in uniform, only one ring authorized, i.e. wedding ring Necklaces will not show above the shirt line. Earrings are prohibited for male personnel. BODY PIERCING. Not authorized while in uniform other than earrings for women.

      Hoops or dangling earrings
      Ornamental/ chunky jewelry even if it is an occasion.


4. Bracelets/Bangles


May wear either a bracelet or a bangle. Avoid both.

5. Dress

Preferably choose small prints or self colors. Avoid plunging necklines,sleeveless and tight
fitting clothes. Pastel Shades for the Women and people with Dark complexions.

6. Shoes/Sandals

Shoes with 1 ½ - inch heels are standard. You may wear a pair with smaller heels or a flat pair. Stick with a black/brown pair. Be sure your shoes are polished and that your heels are intact.
